Early Days
Thomas was the first son and third child born to Thomas Todd Cooley and Margaret Cooley (Edmondston) in Hobart Town on 24th October 1838.

Thomas' first marriage
On 9th June, 1862 (just a month before his sister Elizabeth), Thomas married Susannah Elizabeth Allwright at O'Briens Bridge (now Glenorchy) in Tasmania. They had 5 children, one son and four daughters but sadly only two children lived to adulthood.

Thomas' second marriage
On 15th August 1882 Thomas took a second wife, Augusta Annie Chapman and together they raised a large family of 11 children.
